Today I’m not recommending any particular brand or product. But I did want to discuss the choices we make when it comes to buying a new desktop or laptop.  Today there are so many brands out there when it comes to our personal computer needs, and that brings us to the question, which one is best?  ThisImage: jscreationzs question has been asked of me so many times.  People want to know what the best brand is to buy and why.

The answer is very simple and complicated.  There is no right answer.  What computer is best for you depends on your needs, how much you’re willing to spend, and ultimately what you’re looking for in your system.

Personally, I am a fan of apple.  But that doesn’t make it the ultimate solution for everyone.  If you need a powerful system, for a cost balanced price, HP and Dell both have great systems to fit your needs.  For Business users, Apple, Lenovo, HP, and Dell are all great choices.  Of course for all you video editors, music editors, photo lovers, and serious techies you really must consider Apple.

The staff here at pcEggheads is always here to help you find the right solution.  From netbooks to notebooks and iPads to computers, we’re here to find the right solution for your needs.  Talk to your egghead today!

Recently, we’ve been doing a lot of research on good providers of VoIP telephone service; there are so many out there. From Vonage and Lingo to Packet8 and Ooma, there are so many VoIP providers out there. Pricing varies, but the major providers are all around the same price; anywhere from $20/month to $30/month depending on what calling features and destinations you select.

During our hunt, we came across a company called VoIPo. While I wouldn’t call VoIPo new to the arena, they are certainly a lot newer than Vonage, and other heavily advertised providers; but don’t let that fool you this company knows what it’s doing. It has an excellent network backbone, customer service and technical support based right here in the USA, and best of all is very cost effective. Month-to-month these guys are $15 flat. But, if you prepay for an entire year, they cut that down almost by half to $8.25/month. We’ve been using them at home for about 6-months now and the service in fantastic. Granted, it’s VoIP, and with VoIP there are limitations; but if you’re looking in to VoIP you already are aware of the limitations (no internet or power means no phone service, limited support for faxing, etc).

What its got:

  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • US based technical support
  • US based customer service
  • Over 30 calling features (voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, etc.– the usual)
  • Owner managed, debt free, and profitable company
  • Backed by Hostgator (one of the best hosting providers out there)
  • Free Activation

We’ve used other providers before, such as Broadvoice, Vonage, RNK, and Voicepulse; but so far, best customer service/support, best cost, and best quality has come from VoIPo. So check them out here and let us know what you think.

One of the reasons we started this business was because we were tired of hearing about our non-technical friends who call other computer repair services who do a less then professional  job, or do the job, but take twice the amount of time to do the job than it should have.  That is why we have a fair hourly rate, guaranteed satisfaction, and free diagnosis.  If we believe your system will take an inordinate amount of time to repair, we’re going to call you and let you know that prior to doing any work, and we are not going to ask you to pay for time we spent diagnosing the issue.

With every repair we make, we provide a disposition report.  This report contains detailed information about the repair services we performed, and in addition, any recommendations we may have to avoid troubles in the future.  This report is currently unparalleled to anything we’ve seen our competitors do.

In today’s post, I’d like to mention our preferred way of backing up files.  Sometimes, data recovery is impossible; and when it’s not, it can be costly.  With BackBlaze, you are protected.  It provides you with a full backup solution, and you can easily restore that data via the web, DVD’s, or have a USB drive shipped to you.  It costs just $5 per month, or if you pay for the year, you save $10 and pay just $50.  $50 per year is worth it compared to the priceless cost of losing family photos, important documents, or financial information.  BackBlaze’s system is secure, safe, and effective.  Check them out here.
